How it works

The WorkThoseKeys method

Ten rules that turn keyboard exercises into real speed. Work those keys in this order and none of it is guesswork.

  1. 01

    Set your layout and language

In Settings, choose your keyboard layout (Swedish or US English) and interface language so the on-screen keyboard matches the hardware you actually work those keys on.

  2. 02

Anchor the home row and stop looking down

Rest your fingers on the home row and keep your eyes on the text. The on-screen keyboard shows the next key, so your hands never need supervision.

  3. 03

Warm up for two minutes before every session

Two minutes of easy, familiar keys settles your rhythm before you ask for speed, and keeps the first errors of the day out of your stats.

  4. 04

Work through the lessons in order

Start at level 1a and follow the curriculum to 8c. Each sub-level trains one finger at a time before combining them.

  5. 05

Accuracy first — hold 95% or better

Errors cost more than slow, correct keystrokes: every mistake is subtracted from your speed and has to be retyped. Slow down until accuracy holds.

  6. 06

    Attack your weak spots

Targeted practice builds a session from your own per-key and per-bigram error stats — warmup, weak points, integration and a progress check.

  7. 07

    Short daily reps beat marathons

Fifteen to thirty focused minutes a day builds the movements faster than an occasional long session. Keep the streak going.

  8. 08

    Build endurance on real books

Book mode lets you type real literature segment by segment, so accuracy survives long stretches instead of just short drills.

  9. 09

    Measure net-WPM, not gross

Net-WPM is your speed after errors are subtracted, so it reflects usable typing. Retest weekly and compare the same measure every time.

  10. 10

Advance a tier only when accuracy holds

Move up when you clear the progress check at your target accuracy — not the first time you happen to hit the target WPM.

Common questions

Follow a structured curriculum instead of typing more of what you already know: learn a few keys with the correct fingers, drill them until they are automatic, then add the next group. The 31 free typing lessons run from the home row to numbers, uppercase and special characters.
